Troop 597 Scoutmaster

RickHello, my name is Rick Henry and I am the Scoutmaster of Troop 597, Amityville. I have been a member of the troop for more than 33 years, first as a Scout from 1979 to 1986, then an Assistant Scoutmaster from 1986 to 1995, and finally as the Scoutmaster since 1995.

As a Scout I learned many different things and attended many trips including the National Scouting Jamboree in 1985. In 1983, I earned the rank of Eagle Scout.

As an Assistant Scoutmaster, I was in charge of the troop’s advancement, making sure that each scout had that “helpful” push to keep them working towards completing their own individual goals and, as the Scoutmaster, I still give that “helpful” push when needed.

I have completed numerous training classes available through Boy Scouts of America, including Fast Start, Leader Basic Training, Train the Trainer, Youth Protection, Safe Swim Defense/Safety Afloat, Climb on Safely, Unit Committee Training, Advancement Chairman Training, and Woodbadge.

I was born and raised in Douglassville and currently live in Birdsboro with my wife, Samantha and son Ryan. My family has been very involved with scouting and this troop in particular for many years and my wife and I hope to continue this tradition for many years to come. We are both very committed to Scouting and hope to provide the youth of today a strong foundation of citizenship, leadership and responsibility to help them be better adults for tomorrow.
