Lives with his wife Kristin whom he met at Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation.  They met while he was a summer camp counselor and she was the babysitter for the camp director’s daughter.  Both Rich and Kristin’s families are involved in scouting in many ways.  Rich has served as the committee chairman for the troop as well as Assistant Scoutmaster.  Rich spent time in the Navy during the war with Iraq and returned to Douglassville after his tour of duty was up.  He is currently working on his degree in education.

 

Date of Eagle Scout Award:  October 30, 1997 

 

Age when you became an Eagle Scout: 17

 

Years as a scout in the troop:  1985 – 1998 (and continuing as an adult leader)

 

Eagle project: 

 

Pressure washed, sanded and refinished picnic tables and latrine at the Monocacy Hill Recreation area.  Repainted 2 grills and installed a 3rd one.  Spread additional mulch where needed.

 

What does your Eagle Scout award mean to you?

 

“More than anything else I’ve ever earned.  When I receive another degree, I’ll hold my Eagle Scout Award as high or higher”

 

Has your Scouting experience or Eagle Scout award helped you in life? Describe how:

 

“It has helped me tremendously throughout life.  I’ve even received an automatic advancement to E-2 when I joined the Navy in 1999”
